Time is a Gift

This is a great journal entry in my personal journey to Find Myself Running. I hope that you get some great insights and that you use your time as the true gift it is. After all, there’s a reason they call right now “the present”. Enjoy!!
"Hello, today is July 22, 2013, and I just got back from a run, and I feel great. In my state of post-run euphoria I decided that I would quickly dictate a message about the amazing dissenting given. Lately, I've been thinking about gratitude and how I need to practice gratitude in my daily life more. However, thinking about it and actually doing it is are two different things. After my run today, I realize how amazing it is when I've had time off away from my son and wife, and that I get so much done around the house and my general errands. I think about how much more I get done in less time than I ever had before I had my son. This is a great gift, to show how much time is valuable, when I have to get the things done that I need to. I don't mess around anymore.
This reminds me of a story I heard from Dr. Wayne Dyer's audio series entitled the Power of Intention. In it he described a fable in which a man was complaining about having his in-laws in the house.
He went to the local Sage who told him to bring all of his animals into the house.
This confused the man, but since he went to the Sage and paid great money to have his advice, he did what the Sage told him to do. After about a week he returned to the Sage saying that things have gotten much worse.
The Sage then told him to now take his animals out of the house.
The man did so and then he realized how much more room there was in the house and things weren't so crowded and terrible. The man thanked the Sage profusely for giving him the wisdom of realizing how good he has it and from then on he didn't have any problems with his in-laws anymore. (I will try to find this from the audio series I can give a link to it)
Today, while I have the day off with my son at daycare and my wife at work, I've realized how much I really have-- a gift of time to get things done is such a blessing. It is important that we all realize the gift of our time and that we all get the same amount of time.
Do you spend time doing the things you really want to make a difference in this world, to make your life better, and the life of those around you better?
I wish all people well figuring out how to spend their time. As Tom Petty said in the song The Waiting, "I know what's right, I have just one life." Make sure you spend your life the way you want to. Blessings all this day and may we realize the gift we’ve been given everyday."
